OFF-GRID CONTAINERISED CLASSROOM
Mobile Phone Mast & Dish / Mini-Office, Medical Hub, Civic hosting, Education Hub, Library and
Internet Hub, Telecommunications Hub, Retail and workplace schools and colleges structure for
rural and urban city energy solutions.
Our containerised classroom, Mobile Phone Mast & Dish / mini-office addresses many of these challenges.
This fully self-contained classroom, Mobile Phone Mast & Dish/mini-office mobile/moveable office is
designed to run entirely off-grid, in both daylight and dark hours. The classroom is air-conditioned and
coated with a thermal and radiation barrier to help prevent transfer of heat, water, and dust into the container.
It is enabled for internet connectivity using smart small cell technology from one of our partners and equipped
with a 55-inch interactive touch screen at the front of the classroom, internal lighting, and wheelchair access.
The internal configuration is flexible.
If you have chosen a 1:1 computing model, then the classroom can be configured with individual power and
charging points for laptops and tablet PCs.
If you have chosen to deploy an ICT suite, then the classroom can be configured with our DC-powered server and
All-in-One desktop clients. Alternatively, you can choose a combination of these. We have a range of servers and
All-in-One desktop client devices that work with all major operating systems, including Windows MultiPoint Server
2012 (WMS). Our All-in-One desktop client can work in dual mode as a WMS client and as an independent PC, enabling
classrooms to act as a social hub after school while protecting access to the education content on the server if
necessary.
At the centre of the off-grid solution is our Intelligent Power Distribution Unit (IPDU).
The solar panels are connected directly to the IPDU, which provides power directly for air
conditioning, lighting, and smart small cell (internet connectivity) and to charge the storage batteries.
Energy stored in the batteries is used to power the IT equipment in the classroom via a DC power injector
and to provide power for all other equipment during dark hours.
The innovative technology within the IPDU not only optimises the charge to the storage batteries,
extending their useful life, but also controls the simultaneous charging and discharging of the storage
batteries during daylight hours to ensure adequate power during dark hours.
The modular desk houses the main technology units including the battery bank and air conditioning.
This configuration not only makes the technology secure, but helps with keeping it cool to prolong its life.
The ICT requirements of schools and colleges vary widely, and schools face many challenges in deciding on the best solution; from whether they deploy a 1:1 computing model or use ICT labs, to the operating systems and applications they use, to the school’s location.
